Being ecofabulous means celebrating high style with low impact.

It’s about beautiful items and experiences that don’t compromise health but do inspire stares (the good, where’d you get that from? kind). We’re obsessed with well-designed products. Yet our definition of beauty doesn’t leave room for things that make you – or the planet – sick.

Being ecofabulous means being savvy and open for a bit of discovery.

It means being an expert on your options. It means understanding where your products are from, what they’re made of, and what they will become in their next life–whether that be jeans, lipstick, or baby bottles.

Being ecofabulous doesn’t mean sacrificing or smelling of patchouli oil, but it does mean inspiring change.

We search from Portugal to Palo Alto to bring you the best beauty, fashion, and home finds for a considered life. Though sustainability is at the top of our criteria, it’s sitting right next to aesthetics, efficacy, and performance.

We take our product criteria seriously (but ourselves less so). We run on copious amounts of organic green tea and fair trade coffee, but only take it to go when we’ve remembered our own mugs. We’ve learned that well-made items are the healthiest and most desirable, and we’re here to share them with you.

When this came across the wire, (June 8, 2010) we found it interesting and worth sharing: “The results of sixth annual ImagePower® Green Brands Survey, which examines consumer perceptions of green brands and corporate environmental behavior, will be announced today and reveal that consumer commitment to purchasing from green companies is shared around the globe, but the barriers to going green and environmental concerns are not consistent.

The 2010 data indicate that in the United States, 75 percent of consumers say that it is somewhat or very important to them that the brands they buy come from green companies and the majority of respondents globally plan to spend the same or more money on green products in the coming year. Over 60 percent of consumers in all countries want to buy from environmentally responsible companies, but the cost of green products continues to be a hurdle in developed countries. More than two-thirds of respondents in each country polled cite reducing toxics and dangerous substances as the most important activity a company can do to be green, followed by water conservation or recycling.”

We are a married couple who strive to balance our financial goals with our sustainable lifestyle. Achieving this balance takes a lot of compromise, detailed discussions and careful evaluation of how we handle our personal finances while doing what we can to protect the earth and act socially responsible.

We hope to convey our message without sounding preachy and from the feedback we’ve received, so far so good. We will endeavor to show how living a sustainable lifestyle can be financially sustainable.

Our goal is to retire in just under 25 years with our financial house in order with our minds at rest knowing we did the best that we could to live a sustainable lifestyle. We are public servants by trade who hope to serve the masses via our public service work.
